Pabst Blue Ribbon's 4 Kaiju-themed cans

Godzilla is stomping onto PBR cans

It’s time to raise a beer to the King of Monsters with a new series of collectible PBR cans designed by Attack Peter.

Godzilla turned 70 this year and Toho International has been celebrating all year long with worldwide events, installations and collaborations. Even though 2025 is coming to a close, they have at least one more partnership to reveal. Starting this October, special Pabst Blue Ribbon (PBR) cans and boxes will feature a King of Monsters theme.

The Godzilla cans are an evolution of Pabst’s art series packaging. The black-and-white images will showcase four unique designs, featuring King Ghidorah, Mechagodzilla, Mothra and the birthday boy himself, Godzilla. Pabst worked with official Godzilla artist, Attack Peter, to create the designs, which highlight his signature hard-carved linoleum block print technique.

“Bringing the legendary Godzilla character into PBR’s world is massive on its own, but teaming up with Attack Peter on the designs completely leveled this partnership up. His style and process of hand-carving these illustrations continues to push the boundaries of what the PBR art series is all about,” said Rachel Keeton, Sr. Brand Director — Pabst Blue Ribbon.

The Kaiju designs will appear on more than 60 million single-serve, 25-oz PBR cans. In addition, a limited number of Godzilla cans will have a special ‘blue atomic breath effect’ that turns the can blue when it reaches ideal coldness.

“At Toho International, we’re always looking for innovative ways to expand Godzilla’s presence in culture,” said Kristin Parcell, General Manager of Toho International. “Partnering with Pabst Blue Ribbon, a historic brand with a rich legacy and passionate following fit for the King of Monsters, allows us to engage fans in a fresh and dynamic way.”

Women in Hollywood consistently find themselves trying to break out of pigeon-holes created by decades of playing stereotypes. Even today this dichotomy can be seen when comparing the roles of Bryce Dallas Howard and Charlize Theron in Jurassic World and Mad Max: Fury Road, respectively. But across the pond, it appears strong female performers were more revered for their talents. Actor/writer/director Vittorio De Sica was justifiably confident in putting Sophia Loren front and centre in his pictures, regardless of the subject matter. Her range spoke for itself.

The invention of television was considered a major threat to the film industry — why would people go to the theatre to watch a movie when they could be entertained in their own living rooms? In spite of the endless amount of stories available for streaming on any number of devices, people still head to their local theatre to catch the latest big budget spectacle, awards-worthy performance or genre offering.
